Governance
The NZ College of Public Health Medicine is an incorporated association established to represent the specialty of public health medicine in New Zealand. Public health medicine is the vocational scope of medical practice specifically concerned with the health and healthcare needs of populations.
The Council is the governing body of the College. The Council is elected in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine Incorporated. The business and affairs of the College are managed by the Council or under the direction or supervision of the Council.
The Council has four subcommittees:
· Education and Training Committee
· Finance and Risk Committee
· Policy Committee
· Registrar Committee
The Council delegates responsibility for specific areas of business to the Chairs of four Committees, who are members of Council:
· The Chair of the Education and Training Committee
· The Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee
· The Chair of the Policy Committee
· The Chair of the Registrar Committee, who is an Advanced Registrar
Other Council members are:
· The President
· The President Elect
· A Fellow who is Māori, and who is elected by the Māori Fellows
· A Fellow who has been a member for less than four years
