Development of New Zealand CPD and Recertification Programme

Promoting CPD has been a long-term objective of the Trust. Important recent developments have been:

  • Introduction of the TOPS programme for recertification, 2001
  • Introduction of combined training day and ASM for Fellows and Trainees, 2001
  • Establishment of Director of Continuing Professional Development (DCPD) position, 2001
  • Extensive review of TOPS, 2003

The TOPS review identified several areas for further development, including:

  • Adding categories of activities and changing points requirements slightly in 2004
  • Areas for future development such as specific measures of cultural competence, a review of the range of activities that can receive points and their relative balance including a wider range of peer review activities
